Mental Health Therapy in Austin, Texas
Churning thoughts never stop inside a teenager’s head.
My heart is pounding. I’m going to have to run out of the room! My heart feels like it is beating out of my chest. What is going on?? I can’t take this anymore. My friend told me this is a panic attack. I just want it to stop.
Teens are all sleep deprived; right? It’s so easy to stay up late and so hard to get up for school. Why do my parents care about how much sleep I get?
That pit in my stomach? I’m sick of feeling that every time my Mom talks to me about my grades. I don’t think I will ever catch up. Who needs APUSH or Geometry anyway?? I know I will never use these when I’m older. I don’t want to do bad, but I’m so behind that I don’t know where to start.
Have these conversations played out in your head? If so, today is the day you act. I can help. Working with teens is my passion.
How do I know what to do to help my teen?
I know my daughter cares about school, and she is hiding it well! I have tried everything to motivate her, and nothing has worked.
Maybe if I take away his phone, he will get his grades up. I want him to care and start turning in his homework. I know this hasn’t worked in the past, but I am hoping this time it will.
My relationship with my daughter is really awful. I wish we had the relationship I always wanted with my Mom growing up. You know the one where I could ask questions, and she listened instead of lecturing me? I am caught between enforcing the rules and wanting her to trust me. Is it too late?
Now it is the time to get some help for you to deal positively with these situations. Therapy can give you some strategies to help your teenager. Therapy can give you the support to develop the relationship with your child that you always wanted.
First job after college – not knowing which way to turn.
Anxiety, sure; bi-polar? – Man, I hope not. But my moods swing like crazy. What if my boss finds out I am an impostor? I don’t know what I’m doing, but I’m trying to keep them from finding out. What does my boss really think of me?
My life isn’t perfect, and I can’t compare to the amazing life my friends post on Insta.
Comparing yourself to friends is natural – just not helpful. Doubting your decisions and being scared at work are not unusual – but no one wants to live this way. Therapy can help give you some confidence to navigate this time in your life. I love working with young adults to help them discover their possibilities.
It’s time to try something new

navigate these times in your life.
Hi, I’m Betsy.
One out of four teens between the ages of 13-18 has an anxiety disorder, according to the National Institute of Health. The teens in my office tend to come in due to problems in school, either academically or socially, social isolation from friends, poor sleep habits, and panic attacks.
Parents see changes in their teen but feel helpless in knowing what to do. This is where I come in. I can help. I love working with teens who feel like nothing will get better and helping them see a new and different path.
Therapy provides skills to make life better. Having the resources to manage anxiety will help with the setbacks and relapses.
Working with teens who come into therapy feeling helpless and leave knowing they have a future which is bright and full of potential is one of the greatest gifts I see unfold in my office.
