About

Teenage years are stressful for both parents and children.

I wouldn’t go back to middle school for a million dollars! I am not sure I would even go back to high school for a million dollars. This was the answer that was discussed with a group of parents of teens.

The teen years can be hard to go through and hard to watch our kids struggle through.

The invention of social media, where teens are always able to know what their friends are doing (with or without them) and the pressures of doing well in school, provide a perfect recipe for stress and anxiety.

This is the reason why getting some support from someone who is not a family member and not emotionally connected to your teen is so important.

Coming to therapy to talk about this stress and learn some ways to manage is what my clients are doing in therapy.

I love working with teens and seeing them grow in confidence.

My goal is to give them a space to start to discover where their interests lie, what is important to them, what kind of friends they want, and how to cope with the anxiety.

Teens thrive in a space where they can discover themselves and their journey.

They also find comfort in knowing that the strong emotions they have don’t make them weird or strange but totally normal.

I love watching a teen gain confidence in the person they are becoming and continue to grow into the person they want to be.

Starting therapy can be intimidating but worth the risk.

We teach our kids when they are little to never talk to strangers, yet therapy involves telling important and personal things about yourself to a total stranger.

It’s awkward and can be a little scary.

However, not going to therapy and not having the tools to deal with these strong emotions can be even worse.

Therapy is worth the risk, and I encourage you to get the help now for your teen or yourself.

You deserve an answer to the questions you have been asking yourself. Help is available and now is the time. You have come to the right place to discover the possibilities.

About Me

For many years, my private practice has specialized in teens/families/young adults/parenting, because of the transitional stage each of these groups share.

While each of these stages is different, they are similar in the ways we experience them. Each stage presents its own issues from the teen involved in figuring out who they are to the college student discovering their passion.

Unfortunately, adults learning about their parenting style can be challenging, especially when their first kid is so different from their second or when a Mom is re-entering the workforce after staying home for a number of years.

I love seeing people discover who they are and who they want to be.

Life outside the office is busy and exciting.

When I am not in my office, you can find me at many different sporting events around town watching lacrosse, basketball, and football.  I am a huge Kansas Jayhawks fan- Rock Chalk!

I love being a wife and mom and have found so much joy and struggle in parenting.  This parenting job has helped me stay humble and empathize with my adult clients who are parents struggling with their kids, no matter the stage of development.

While navigating this life together, I am constantly learning from my clients (especially the teens) and my friends.  I feel so lucky to call Austin, Texas home and I feel so fortunate to have a job I love!

In my free time, I am obsessed with podcasts and love traveling to new places to see what this big world has to offer.
