Teenage years are stressful for both parents and children.
I wouldn’t go back to middle school for a million dollars! I am not sure I would even go back to high school for a million dollars. This was the answer that was discussed with a group of parents of teens.
The teen years can be hard to go through and as a parent, hard to watch as our kids struggle.
The invention of social media, where teens are always able to know what their friends are doing (with or without them) along with the pressures of doing well in school, provide a perfect recipe for stress, anxiety and depression.
This is the reason why getting some support from someone who is not a family member and not emotionally connected to your teen is so important.
Coming to therapy to talk about this stress and learning some ways to manage these strong feelings and emotions are what my clients are doing in therapy.
I love working with people and seeing them grow in confidence.
My goal is to give my patients a space to start to discover where their interests lie, what is important to them, what kind of friends they want, and how to cope with everyday anxieties.
Thriving in a space where individuals can discover themselves and their journey.
Also finding comfort in knowing that the strong emotions don’t make them weird or strange but totally normal.
I love watching my patients gain confidence in the person they are becoming and continue to grow into the person they want to be.
Starting therapy can be intimidating but worth the risk.
We are taught when we are little to never talk to strangers, yet therapy involves telling important and personal things about yourself to a total stranger.
If you have never been in therapy before, it can be awkward and can be a little scary.
However, not going to therapy and not having the tools to deal with these strong emotions can be even worse.
Therapy is worth the risk, and I encourage you to get the help now for your yourself or someone you love.
You deserve an answer to the questions you have been asking yourself. Help is available and now is the time. You have come to the right place to discover the possibilities.

About Me
For many years, my private practice has specialized in teens/families/young adults/individuals. This is the population with whom I love working because of the transitional stage of life each of these groups share.
While each of these stages is different, they are similar in the ways we experience them. Each stage presents its own issues from the teen involved in figuring out who they are to the college student discovering their passion.
Adults learning about their parenting style can be challenging, especially when their first kid is so different from their second or re-entering the workforce after staying home for a number of years.
I love seeing people discover who they are and who they want to be.
Life outside the office is busy and exciting.
When I am not in my office, you can find me at many different sporting events around town watching lacrosse, basketball, and football. I am a huge Kansas Jayhawks fan- Rock Chalk!
I love being a wife and mom and have found so much joy and struggle in my own parenting. This parenting job has helped me stay humble and empathize with my adult clients who are parents dealing with their kids, no matter the stage of development.
While navigating this life together, I am constantly learning from my clients (especially the teens) and my friends. I feel so lucky to call Austin, Texas home and I feel so fortunate to have a job I love!
In my free time, I love listening to the latest podcasts, trying all the new restaurants Austin has to offer, traveling to new places to see what this big world has to offer.
